Cilento… a land of myths

Don’t know about Cilento?
Try to think about an uncontaminated land, down South of the “bella Italia”, between the Piana di Paestum and Sapri’s Gulf. Imagine mountains that descend into the sea creating wonderful rocky coastlines. Think about long, sandy beaches surrounded by luxuriant pine-forests that reflect in the deep of an enchanting blue sea. Add the irresistible charm of the antiquity reveled by unique archaeological monuments, such as the Temples of Paestum or the monumental ruins of ancient Velia, founded by the Phoenicians. Velia, the most flourishing center of “Magna Graecia”, native land of the philosopher Parmenides, where you can admire the one and only, perfectly remaining Greek arch “Porta Rosa”. Do not forget about the “Certosa di Padula”, the Castles of Roscigno and Teggiano, the ancient little towns placed on the top of mountains, hills or on the coastlines, where people still preserve their traditions. Cilento is also famous for its food farming products still processed by old methods, moreover is the motherland of the Mediterranean diet. Completing the landscape of the National Park of Cilento e Vallo di Diano, the second largest Park in Italy with incomparable scenery, a beautiful smell of flowers and shrubs like brooms, myrtles and rosemary. There are myths and mysteries to discover in an uncontaminated land where it seems like you can still hear the captivating singing of the mermaids, which tempt in vain to seduce “Ulisse”.
